Flipping the Primstav: ScandiAm session

A primstav is an old Nordic wooden calendar, carved with symbols marking the seasons. As the winter side runs from October 14 to April 14, we’ll be gathering just in time to “flip the primstav” to spring. This winter, Mary Pat Kleven and the ScandiAm Jam (Madison, WI) led a “Flipping the Primstav” Zoom series exploring forty traditional ScandiAm fiddle tunes from southern Wisconsin, northeast Iowa, and southeast Minnesota. We’ll revisit that repertoire together—no prior participation required.
